A curated, culturally-relevant three-day Black Entrepreneurship Bootcamp led by The Black upStart that teaches black founders how to turn obstacles into profitable business opportunities.  Ten (10)  entrepreneurs will be competitively selected to learn how to start, grow and pitch their business idea during an accelerated business school experience culminating in an opportunity to pitch for funding.

Day 1: Understanding the African-American Marketplace + Brainstorming Your Bright Bright Business Idea

Entrepreneurs will learn how to effectively evaluate the marketplace in order to identify business opportunities.  Entrepreneurs will be led through a methodical approach to generating, developing and communicating revenue-generating business ideas that increase the likelihood of entrepreneurs starting successful and profitable ventures. Entrepreneurs will conclude this session with a better understanding of how to solve problems with a business mindset.

Day 2:  ABC | All About the Business Canvas + Developing Your Brand

Entrepreneurs will develop a business canvas (a one page business plan) that inspires thinking about the key elements required to start, grow and launch a business.  The cohort will discuss what customer segments, sales channels,  key activities and cost structures are beneficial to growing their business.  Additionally, a branding consultant will support entrepreneurs in understanding their business' brand identity and how to find and sell to their customers.

Day 3:  Pitch Perfect + Customer Validation

Entrepreneurs will introduce their ideas to a local bank and angel investors who will offer substantive advice regarding the launch or
subsequent funding of their venture.

Day 4:  Pitch Day

Several boot camp participants will be competitively selected to  pitch during the BWS: Homecoming’s Pitch, Please! competition for a cash prize.

If selected, your bootcamp experience is covered - just come, engage and get ready to grow. Housing isn’t included, but some meals are. Also, as an added bonus, you’ll get complimentary VIP access to all BWS: Homecoming events.
